Dance and Yoga Retreat with Neal Ghoshal and Sacha Paddy
September 2 @ 4:00 pm – September 4 @ 1:00 pm
Open Floor is a fun, transformative dance practice..
Human beings are born to move. With dance, we thrive – physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Open Floor is a lively meditation practice that builds muscular and emotional intelligence. It is a dance floor discovery zone where we move and include: good days and tough ones, passion, hesitance, joy, sorrow, births, deaths and everything in between. There are no steps to learn and no way to do it wrong. Research shows that people who dance grow more flexible, confident, capable of intimacy, and nimble in the face of change. When we move together, we grow communities that care for each other on and off the dance floor. The invitation is to come just as you are, and join others doing the same right alongside you.
Yoga is fundamentally about returning us to our original wholeness..
Reflecting this, my aim in teaching Yoga is for our practice together to be a nourishing, self-sustaining, refreshing and inspiring experience. The Yoga I teach has many influences, though my main inspiration is teacher Donna Farhi. I teach movement principles, (for example, letting the breath move you; finding a balanced relationship to the ground and gravity), which help us to explore our Self through our body. In Yoga the enquiry is to restore balance, stability, ease and sustainability in how we move and live our lives. I love teaching and sharing the beauty of the practice.
Ultimately, the practice of yoga leads us to a place where we may respond to life’s challenges with ease in our breath and body, with wise choices, and with kindness and an open heart.
Meet your Instructor..
My intention is to bring awareness of the sacred into my everyday life, connecting to spirit through dance, yoga and massage in my own practices and in the work I do with others. My path has been one of listening to the profound teachings of nature and of reclaiming my intuition and body connection. When I discovered the 5Rhythms Dance of Gabrielle Roth in 2000, I instantly fell in love with the freedom I felt as well as the potential of this practice to guide me through my life.
Neal has been practicing yoga for twenty years and teaching since 2003. He sees yoga as a guide to restoring our place and understanding of who we are and how we can live peacefully, happily and completely fulfilled. Neal’s teaching focuses on exploring and refining natural movement and alignment principles – learning to embody these principles in a way that takes our spiritual practice into our everyday lives. His aim in teaching is to create a safe and inviting space in which to learn and discover Yoga as a balance between effort and effortlessness, structural alignment and organic fluidity, mindfulness and spontaneity.
