Natural Ease: Silent Meditation and Qi Gong Retreat with Hedwig Bakker

You have all the resources within yourself to increase your health & vitality, transform stress into relaxation, have a calm & clear mind, and have balanced emotions. Qi Gong (pronounced: ‘chi kung’) is the art of working with your internal energy to improve your state of being. Quite literally, “Qi” means “internal energy,” and “Gong” means “to work with”.

It is an ancient Chinese practice of gentle movement, breathing exercises, standing postures and meditation to work skillfully with your life force energy, with the internal power that animates all physical functions, your mind, and your emotions. Qi Gong also has a rich connection with the natural world.

It is about learning nourishing practices for personal empowerment and wellbeing: becoming your own best master. Mastery of your life, mastery of your energy: cultivating the energy that you want in any given moment or situation. Becoming an expert at working with your own internal energy gives you the resources to have choices and to manifest the kind of day, and the kind of life that you want to have.

Qi Gong is easy to learn and enjoyable to do. The movements are slow, flowing, rhythmic, accessible and practical. Combined with meditation, the benefits of the practice will soon be experienced. In this retreat we will work with the five principles of Qi Gong:

  • Energy, Vitality
  • Flow, Ease, Relaxation
  • Resilience
  • Joy, Enjoyment
  • Being present, Grounded, Centered

We will explore and strengthen these principles through sitting practice and movement practice, to then be able to cultivate them as powerful inner qualities to live by, so that we can enrich our days, our connections with others and live more fulfilling lives. The silent nature of this retreat will serve as beautiful support for this inner journey.

Practicing Qi gong & meditation is all about uncovering your inner resources for health, happiness, well-being, and fulfilment.

This retreat is suitable for anyone interested in learning the beauty, effectiveness, simplicity and power of Qi Gong and meditation. No previous experience required. For those who have done any of this before it is a wonderful opportunity to deepen and enrich their practice.

Mana Retreat Centre provides the most amazing and conducive conditions for this retreat with its breathtaking views, peaceful atmosphere, beautiful grounds, supportive staff, and spacious Octagon.

About Hedwig Hedwig has been practicing meditation since 2000 and has completed many individual and group retreats. She has been leading meditation classes, courses and retreats since 2004 in India, Nepal, the Netherlands and New Zealand. She also is a certified Holden Qi Gong teacher and these many years of personal practice and leading retreats & courses have resulted in a richness of experience and genuine joy in sharing, guiding and leading others in meditation practice. Hedwig’s courses & classes are universal and suitable for people from all walks of life. Her approach is joyful, gentle, practical, down to earth, and yet with a sense of lightness and humor.

Payment is required in full at the time of booking, by credit or debit card, or direct bank transfer using our secure POLi payment gateway.

We draw special attention to two of our guidelines before registration: Mana provides lacto-ovo vegetarian food only, this means no fish or chicken and is an alcohol and drug free environment.

Cancellation Policy

This group requires a minimum number of participants to go ahead, if that number is not reached we reserve the right to cancel the event.

Should you, for any reason, decide to cancel your registration, please note our cancellation policy :

  • 30 days or more prior to the start of an event, a refund will be made less a $50 administrative fee, and your spot will be offered to someone else.
  • 10 – 29 days prior to the start of an event, a refund will be made less a $200 administrative fee. Event bookings less than $200 receive no refund.
  • 0-9 days prior to the start of an event, no refund will be made.
  • These policies are reassessed in certain circumstances.
