SUMMARY:Spring Qi Gong Retreat with Hedwig Bakker
DESCRIPTION:Spring Qi Gong Retreat\n9 October\, 4pm – 12 October\, 2pm\n\nInfuse yourself with more energy this spring\nThe essence of practicing Qi Gong is to optimize and improve your internal energy\, the inner force that keeps you alive through breathwork\, activation\, stretching\, flows\, standing postures and meditation. \nAnother aspect of Qi Gong is to create harmony\, balance\, connection\, flow between the internal and external. Internal is your innate intelligent energy system and external relates to seasons\, space\, people\, weather\, environment\, earth\, nature\, universe. \nWe want ways to integrate what’s going on around us with what’s happening inside of us and during this retreat we will be looking at working with the seasons.\nWorking with the seasonal energies will help your body follow the cycles and rhythms of the natural world\, feel supported and in tune with the energies of the natural world and will help you to transition from one season to the next full of vibrant\, youthful energy. \nIn this retreat we will work with and tune into the energy of spring. Every season has specific characteristics and relates to one of the Five elemental energies (metal\, water\, wood\, fire and earth) that we find in nature and within ourselves. Spring corresponds with the wood element with its internal qualities and characteristics like resilience (strength and flexibility)\, abundance\, generosity\, kindness\, creativity\, perception. \nIn winter everything slows down and there is the aspect of going within. Spring follows and is the season where nature wakes up from hibernation\, there is expansion\, growth\, a coming to life and this will be reflected in our Qi Gong practice. \n\nWhat other people had to say\nHedwig has perfected the delivery of her Qi Gong Retreat. I have the impression it’s equally rich and meaningful whether the participants are completely new to Qi Gong\, have been doing it for many years\, or at one of the many places in between. Thank you for an amazing retreat. \nIt was beautiful to see the transformation and healing that took place amongst everyone. \nMy gratitude and appreciation for all you shared. You soar in joy and flow of Qi Gong. My heart feels open and my base feels stronger. I am ready to journey on. \nHedwig’s Qi Gong retreat was such a precious experience – held in the beautiful surrounds of Mana\, I could really sink into her teachings\, practise deeply and cultivate motivation and ideas for continuing the practise at home. I wholeheartedly recommend Mana and especially the Qi Gong retreat with Hedwig. \n\nThis Spring Qi Gong Retreat includes\n-Breathwork combined with Qi Gong\n-Explore the wood element\n-Learn a Swimming Dragon Routine for strength and flexibility\n-Practice techniques to tap into your inner power\, awaken loving-kindness in your heart\, strengthen abundance and awaken healing energy within through sitting meditation\, walking meditation and Qi Gong practice\n-Experience the shared energy that you only get when practicing in a group.\n-Sessions will take place in beautiful indoor and outdoor settings\n-Enjoy three nights and four days of accommodation in a beautiful\, natural and peaceful setting\, delicious and nutritious organic meals and friendly staff. \nPlease note that parts of this retreat will be conducted in silence. \n  \n\nDaily Schedule\n \n\nYour Teacher\nHedwig grew up in the Netherlands\, was trained as a teacher physical education and worked  as an outdoor instructor for 15 years until she left the Netherlands in 2000. Initially she travelled overseas\, then lived in India and Nepal for nine years where she engaged in Buddhist teachings & retreats and several charity projects. \nHedwig has been practicing meditation for over two decades and has been leading meditation classes\, courses and retreats since 2004. She is also a certified Holden Qi Gong teacher and leads all kinds of Qi Gong events.  These many years of personal practice and leading retreats & courses have resulted in a richness of experience and a genuine joy in sharing and guiding others in meditation & movement practice. \n  \n  \n\nThis retreat is suitable for all skill levels: those new to Qi Gong as well as those with previous experience. \nFor questions or more information\, contact Hedwig at qigonghedwig@gmail.com \nFor an impression of the practice\, visit: \nhttps://www.youtube.com/@QiGongwithHedwig or \nhttps://www.facebook.com/qi.gong.with.hedwig \n

SUMMARY:5 Day Silent Meditation Retreat with Amrit Saraswati
DESCRIPTION:Join Amrit for an inner journey to discover the beauty of silence and explore the Self through various yogic techniques and meditation practices. \nThe retreat will be held at the stunning Mana Retreat Centre\, which is nestled in the luxuriant bush covered hills of the Coromandel with views out over the sea and islands. The warm\, welcoming\, natural atmosphere supports individual learning and renewal. \n\nThe Yogic Way of Meditation\nContrary to what many people think\, meditation is not passive nor is it about having an empty mind. Instead\, it is about self-exploration and allowing our innermost being to express itself. \nIn this yogic tradition\, we utilise breath awareness\, mantras (sacred sounds)\, charkas (energy centres)\, and energy pathways to develop subtle awareness and penetrate the deeper layers of our mind. \nRather than viewing our thoughts and emotions as distractions\, we work with what is and embrace the total spectrum of our inner experience with self-compassion and kindness. This eventually leads us to discover our true nature – the treasure within. \n\nThe Programme\nWe offer a well-structured programme. Each day is woven together by: \n-Sitting and Walking Meditation\n-Hatha Yoga (asana\, pranayama\, mudra\, and bandha)\n-Yoga Nidra (guided relaxation)\n-Chanting\n-Group Discussions\n-Use of Sauna and Bush Bath\n-Free Time to Rest and Connect with Nature \nA day will look like this: \n6.30am Yoga – Asana & Pranayama\n8.00-9.30am Breakfast & Free Time\n9.30am Meditation\n10.30am Break\n11.00am Meditation\n12.15pm Yoga Nidra\n1.00-4.00pm Lunch & Free Time\n4.00pm Yoga – Asana & Pranayama\n5.00pm Meditation\n6.30pm Dinner\n7.30pm Evening Session \nThis retreat offers a deep dive into the self. Although it accommodates all experience levels\, a genuine willingness and openness for self-exploration will help you get the most from the experience. Throughout the retreat\, you will be guided with compassion and respect. We create a safe and nurturing space for you to go deep. \n\nSilence\nSilence\, a spiritual practice in itself\, enables us to internalise and supports a deeper kind of nourishment. In a silent and meditative environment\, the body relaxes\, awareness sharpens\, and space opens for hidden impressions to release and insights to develop. Silence allows us to slow down and be truly present with our senses and the world around us. \nSilence will be observed from Friday until the end of the retreat. You will have opportunities to ask questions and share your experience during group discussions. \n\nWhat Others Say About This Retreat\nEvery person I met at the retreat had some need for tender care. And the land\, the staff\, the teachers and the teaching shared\, do just that. They create the conditions for you to open up to healing. – Francesca Bacci \nThe structure of the meditation retreat was a well thought out balance between movement and stillness which allowed for a smooth transition from daily life into peacefulness and relaxation. – Fay \nSilent Meditation Retreats have been more healing and revealing than any other ‘personal growth initiative’ I have undertaken…Each retreat has strengthened the relationship with myself. – Sarah \n\nIntroducing\nYour Teachers \n \n  \nAmrit Saraswati \nAmrit is a dedicated student and teacher of yoga and meditation. She completed her first yoga teacher training with Ashram Yoga in 2012 and has been learning\, deepening and sharing traditional yoga practices in various retreat centre’s around New Zealand for the last decade. \nShe has been offering Silent Meditations Retreats for the last 10 years and is passionate about the transformation and growth it inspires in people. She teaches with compassion\, authenticity and humility. Her calm and concise teaching allows people to go deep within themselves and have their own unique experience. \n\nFor any enquiries\, please get in touch with Amrit at 108hariaum@gmail.com

SUMMARY:Sing Your Heart Out with Tony Backhouse
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a Gospel Singing Weekend with Tony Backhouse \n\nIntroducing Your Teacher \nTony Backhouse\, BA\, B.Mus\, is one of the leaders in the Australasian a cappella movement.Tony Backhouse founded Australia’s foremost a cappella gospel choir Café of the Gate of Salvation in 1986 and directed it for 21 years. He arranged and composed the bulk of their repertoire and still writes music regularly for them. He founded a cappella choir the Honeybees and has directed and sung with the reclusive male a cappella group the Heavenly Light Quartet since 1996. In demand for his inspiring teaching style\, Tony has run more than 2000 vocal workshops throughout the world for the public\, for festivals\, schools\, universities\, churches\, organisation’s and corporate training events. \n  \n  \n\nWhat others have said about Tony \n“He is quite simply the finest vocal arranger he knows and Sam Neill reckons he’s a national treasure” – Tim Finn\nTony Backhouse has been\, and continues to be\, a major influence on music in Sydney and beyond. The a cappella revival is almost entirely due to him – Roi Colbert\, New Zealand Listener \nTony Backhouse’s voice can be heard several times on The Cafe of the Gate of Salvation and each time he manages to cleverly shape otherwise simple melodic lines. He’s very effective at blending into the ensemble and then appearing again\, wrapping around notes\, gliding above the sopranos\, growling between the tenors and baritones. Few ensemble leaders have as clear an understanding of their group’s sonic spectrum\, and how their voice fits within as a soloist – Martin Wesley-Smith\, composer\, Australia \nFor more information about Tony Backhouse\, please visit https://www.tonybackhouse.com/ \n  \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Eyebody Retreat with Peter Grunwald
DESCRIPTION:Please note that before booking below for Mana accommodation\, you must first register and complete payment on the Eyebody website >> Eyebody Registration Page \nThis unique experiential retreat with Peter Grunwald explores the integration of vision\, eyesight\, posture\, movement\, relaxation\, imagination and brain function. The EYEBODY method is a principle-based educational process that can transform your way of seeing and being. It can help you let go of the habit of wearing glasses or contact lenses. Central to the method is the understanding that eyesight and vision are flexible and can be changed. This is true of many known visual symptoms such as myopia (short-sighted)\, presbyopia (middle-age vision)\, hypermetropia (far-sighted vision)\, astigmatism\, cataracts\, light sensitivity\, and glaucoma. \n\nOn the 6 day Eyebody retreat you will:\n\nUnderstand the visual process and your unique visual function\nMake your first steps without glasses or contacts\nLearn to apply the Eyebody principles to the process of seeing\nEnhance the primary control mechanism through depth perception\nLearn how to integrate the Eyebody method into activities of your daily life\, such as walking\, driving and working.\n\n\nThe EYEBODY Method:\nBrings clarity to the physical\, mental\, emotional and spiritual aspects of seeing. It is beneficial for people of all ages and offers a comprehensive learning experience. The method is based on principles that can transform your seeing and being. These principles can help you to let go of the habit of wearing glasses and contact lenses. EYEBODY coordinates the brain and releases tension in the eyes and the whole visual system. Through the EYEBODY patterns\, the body is reached in an indirect way and can have a positive effect on many conditions\, such as neck\, back\, and joint pain\, asthma\, and general fatigue. \nEYEBODY enhances clear thinking\, integrates all the senses (especially hearing) and makes the processing of information effective. Clear sight is only one aspect of vision. Perceiving the world in more depth and letting go of over- and under-focusing promotes a deep sense of well-being that permeates all aspects of life. Very often physical\, mental and emotional difficulties can be transformed\, the roots of which may have seemed elusive. The retreat combines individual and group work. In time\, many students have completely discarded their glasses or have avoided needing glasses through this educational experience. Essential for maintaining good vision\, the course includes work on myopia\, hypermetropia\, presbyopia\, crossed and lazy eyes and other vision disorders. \nPeter Grunwald discovered the connections between the eyes and the body in the early 1990s. These EYEBODY patterns describe how every part of the eyes\, the visual pathway and the visual cortex is connected to a specific area of the body. Particular visual symptoms correspond with specific tensions in the body. \n\nIntroducing\nThe Teacher\nPeter Grunwald was myopic and astigmatic from early childhood\, with his first pair of glasses at the age of 3. He began to stutter and both his posture and self-esteem slumped. \nIn 1984 he began a 4-year full-time professional training in the Alexander Technique (Australia) to overcome his stuttering and slumped posture. He emerged from his training with his stuttering vastly improved\, a sense of postural and mental poise and increased self-esteem. \nHe went on to study in Germany with renowned vision leader Janet Goodrich\, PHD\, and within 18 months was able to let go of his 10 1/2 dioptrestrong glasses. His discoveries of the first intrinsic associations between eyes and body followed in 1992 and led to high resolution in clarity. Since then he has continued researching and has developed a learning method in his own name. \nPeter now consults privately\, writes\, and leads seminars in nine countries around the world. He lives in New Zealand.
