The Flow Company was founded by Jo Monaghan in 2017. After spending several years working in large corporates, she became passionate about finding a better way to create strategies and spaces that support people’s wellbeing.

Taking time off in early 2017 to train to become a yoga teacher in Bali she had an “aha” moment about how to incorporate Eastern Philosophies into spatial design, to create spaces and places with meaning that connect and inspire us. This led to the creation of Energy Based Design, a philosophy which unites the energy of the people and the place.

Everyone experiences space differently. Energetically we create a relationship between us and the place we are in, its design impacts our experience by affecting us both physically and physiologically. What makes a “good” space versus a “bad” space? They are likely to be different things to different people based on their life experience and personality type.

Energy Based Design considers these factors and creates spaces of different energy which allow people to move through their day taking and giving what they need to maximise their wellbeing, empowering them to be productive and happy. The Flow@Work tool is the pracfical application of this philosophy and allows you to assess your current workplaces to see how they measure up.

Jo’s mission is to make Workplace Wellbeing Design mainstream, creating a world where people feel happier at work by designing to support people’s physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.
