Dear Friends of Mindfulness,

We would like to invite you to join us in New Zealand (Aotearoa which in Mauri means, “Land of the Long White Cloud”) for a week-long mindfulness retreat on Meeting the Heavenly Messengers at Mana Retreat Centre in Coromandel, New Zealand. Mana is truly one of the most beautiful retreat centers we have taught at.  It is  a sacred place and sanctuary. https://manaretreat.com/

This offering is very close to our hearts and supports the development of greater wisdom and compassion. For those who have participated in past retreats, Meeting the Heavenly Messengers has been very meaningful and healing.

In Lovingkindness,

Bob & Jan

A Mindfulness Meditation Retreat Meeting the Heavenly Messengers: Cultivating Wisdom and Compassion Amid Life’s Changing Currents

It is inevitable, that we will encounter aging, illness, and death. The global pandemic has shown us this in more direct ways. In Buddhism, these are known as the first three of four Heavenly Messengers since they wake us up to the fragility and preciousness of life. The fourth Heavenly Messenger points to a way of living with greater peace and freedom.

During this retreat, we will explore:

  • Our relationship with illness, aging, and death
  • Cultivating compassionate presence to alleviate suffering
  • Developing inner resources to care for ourselves and others
  • Meeting life and death with a wise and kind heart.

This traditional heart-based mindfulness meditation retreat will offer silent periods of sitting and walking meditation as well times for practice discussions. Together we will create a supportive environment to explore the mystery of life and death and how we can respond with greater wisdom and compassion.

What the retreat includes:

Each day there will be a talk and systematic meditation instructions on the four foundations of mindfulness that are embedded in loving kindness. These teachings and practices will emphasize quieting the mind, opening the heart, and developing clarity, wisdom, and compassion; and foster the depth of practice.

This retreat is suitable for both new and experienced meditation students a well as for anyone teaching mindfulness or aspiring to teach mindfulness in healthcare, psychology, education, science, government, or in the business and corporate sectors.

Please note: This retreat fulfils some of the retreat requirements for MBSR and other mindfulness teacher trainings.

Costing: NZ$320pp Tuition fee contribution towards flight costs for Bob and Jan to travel to New Zealand to teach. They will also accept Dana for teachings.

All Prices are in New Zealand Dollars.
