Qi Gong (pronounced: chi kung) is an ancient Chinese practice of working with your internal energy, your aliveness. Through gentle movement, standing postures, breath work and meditation you can uncover and skillfully work with your inner resources for health, vitality, mental & emotional well-being, feeling connected & fulfilled.
The Five Elements theory is an important concept within Qi Gong and refers to the five elemental energies: metal, water, wood, fire, and earth. Just as you find these five elements in the external world as precious metals in the earth, rivers & oceans, trees, fire & sun, the earth itself, we also have these five qualities or movements of energy within ourselves. The Five Elements relate to major organs in our body, to physical systems, emotions, mental states, inner qualities, colors, sounds. All together they form an intricate network that governs our mind-body system, and the aim of the practice is to find harmony and balance amongst all these different aspects of ourselves.
We will explore these five different movements of energy within through the following practices:
The Metal element relates to the lungs: we will practice Qi Gong for Better Breathing to increase vitality.
The Water element relates to the kidneys & low back: we will do Qi Gong practices for releasing & strengthening the lower back.
The Wood element relates to the liver & nervous system: we will practice Qi Gong for Balancing the Nervous System, being able to consciously transform stress into relaxation.
The Fire element relates to the heart: we will engage in a Qi Gong practice for Happy & Healthy Heart
The Earth element relates to the spleen: we will practice Qi Gong for Better Digestion

Hedwig grew up in the Netherlands, was trained as a teacher physical education and worked as an outdoor instructor for 15 years until she left the Netherlands in 2000. Initially she travelled overseas, then lived in India and Nepal for nine years where she engaged in Buddhist teachings & retreats and several charity projects. Hedwig has been practicing meditation for over two decades and has been leading meditation classes, courses and retreats since 2004. She is also a certified Holden Qi Gong teacher and leads all kinds of Qi Gong events. These many years of personal practice and leading retreats & courses have resulted in a richness of experience and a genuine joy in sharing and guiding others in meditation & movement practice.
Hedwig’s courses & classes are universal and suitable for people from all walks of life. Her approach is joyful, gentle, practical, and with a sense of lightness and humour.

We draw special attention to two of our guidelines before registration: Mana provides lacto-ovo vegetarian food only, this means no fish or chicken and is an alcohol and drug free environment.
Mana caters for Gluten Free, Dairy Free and Vegan.
This group requires a minimum number of participants to go ahead, if that number is not reached we reserve the right to cancel the event.
