ReWild – Composting Our Relationship with Power
We are living in times that call for a healthy, life-affirming relationship with power. Many of us carry the legacy of patriarchy, colonisation, and generational wounding — patterns that can leave us living as if the world is a battlefield. Beneath much of our struggle sits one core question: how do we relate to power?
This three-day journey invites you to make friends with uncertainty and to open to a power greater than the individual self — the living force of Life, Eros, and Mystery. Together we will explore how “power-over” has shaped us, and how it shows up in our habits of predicting, defending, and controlling.
Through Open Floor movement, soul-craft practices, and time in the more-than-human world, we will gently loosen the armour we have learned to wear. The intention is not to fix or force change, but to soften what has become rigid, so that more honest connection — with ourselves, with each other, and with life — can emerge from the centre of who we are.
ReWild is a new way of working with men. It is intergenerational in its form. We need both the fire of the younger men, and the experience of the older men. This is how we create a village of growth and unfolding. The world is hungry for a strong, aware and sacred masculinity that serves the ecological soul to serve wisdom.
The aspirations of ReWILD for men is to give men an embodied experience of wholeness. In such an experience they will find their innate capacity for creativity, they will feed the roots of wonder and deep imagination and most of all, they will feel reconnected to the primal source of their life force.
We are speaking to men who want to feel alive and creative.
Who want to be connected to their unique gift and purpose.
Who are interested in building communities of support for other men young and old.
This is a rites of passage event, an opportunity to learn about life stages and the passageways that exist between them.
“No doubt you have noticed that we are living in turbulent times culturally and as a
planet. All pretences of immunity are collapsing as we realise how completely
entangled our lives are with one another, with kelp beds and carving glaciers, with
refugees and the dreams of young people everywhere…..We do not know what lies ahead, but one thing is sure: this is a time for bold gestures.
It is time to wake up and humbly take our place on the stunning planet. The future is
speaking ruthlessly through us.”Words by Francis Weller, this is the kind of well we are drinking from.
Meet Your
Teacher
Jaime Howell
Jaime is moved to be a part of the continuing conversation to help humans reconnect with their belonging and the passion to live connected to their deepest purpose and gift.
The old maps no longer work, and the new ones are not yet formed. Jaime is drawn toward older intelligences — in body, psyche, land, and community — and toward what might be called an instinct for wholeness.
Jaime is the founder and director of the charitable trust, the Centre for the Great Turning. The trust develops nature-based, intergenerational residential immersions that support people in meeting grief, change, and transition with maturity and creativity. The work is shaped by descent, initiation, and the restoration of belonging, and is informed by the work of Bill Plotkin, Francis Weller, Joanna Macy, Open Floor, non-dual contemplative traditions, rites of passage, shadow work, and the creative arts, as a way of asking better questions and widening our collective imagination.
We are very fortunate to have Les Gray in support in the role of elder for this event.
Les is an educational psychologist, an artist. He has lived a wild and courageous life. He has worked with men for many many decades in his mahi with Essentially Men NZ
